Dear friends, dear partners,

Confrontations Europe, with the financial support of the Île de France Region, is proud to invite you to the 4th edition of the European Long Term conference on the following theme:

The Future of cohesion in Europe
Wednesday 14th November 2018 (9am – 5:30pm)

At Ile-de-France Region – 57, rue de Babylone 75007 Paris

In an international context of growing instability, Europe is facing numerous new challenges that pose a serious threat to its cohesion: Brexit, separatist attempts within Member States, divergences in economic, social and environmental trajectories, threat of a West/East split etc.

Against this background, Europeans must reclaim their common project and agree on the priorities and common goods they wish to share at the Union level. The ongoing debate on the 2021-2027 multi-annual financial framework (MFF) offers a welcomed political space for this clarification. In this perspective, and whereas the discussions on how to move forward with the EU 2020 strategy have not yet been opened,  the challenge of the EU’s cohesion seems critical, while regions are the relevant level to implement these European policies.

More than ever, an ambitious cohesion policy is necessary for all European regions (in investments, innovation, mobility etc.) to reduce the gaps between and within territories.

How to make these differences the basis of active solidarities between regions and other economic and social actors, allowing each territory and each individual to find the way of its own sustainable prosperity, and therefore participate in a genuine European division of work?

Discussions will be held in both French and English.
